General Information

Colors?

“What colors should I wear” is the most common question. We suggest wearing solids or simple patterns that complement each other would work best for your portraits. It is also best to try to not match your background exactly such as dark forest green in a wooded setting.

Shoes also should be cleaned as they will also appear in the photos.

Good fitting clothes both for men and women are going to enhance your photos!

For men, we suggest pants or shorts that are more fitted and not too baggy would be great.

Women come in all wonderful body types! It’s best to find something that complements your features and to show off what you want to show off! Bringing an extra blazer or cardigan or some sort of layer could also add to your outfit!

Remember your shoes are also in the photos so be sure to wear a nice pair of shoes!

Couples

First off, for colors, find colors that complement each other such as white and cream with other solids. It is also suggested to try to not completely match each other’s exact colors because the colors tend to take over rather than the couple.

It is also great to add some layers if needed and to also complement the background. For example, try to avoid forest green if you plan to have photoshoot in the greenery. We also suggest using simple patterns with solid tops or bottoms or simple patterns in dresses while the other party wears solids to complement the colors.

Quick tips for your shoot:

Bring some easy slip of shoes that you can change into in case we need to do some extra walking between photo locations!

Families

We suggest that families wear complementary colors! Wearing colors. It is highly suggested to avoid wearing the exact same colors as the colors tend to blend and can lose track of subject faces. We express that families should wear complements for example if mom wears a blue top, the kids can also wear blue bottoms or one kid can wear a similar shade with different bottoms.

Solid colors for some family members would complement well against simple patterns that other family members may be wearing.

What to avoid: Graphic tees & logos. These really take away from the focus of the portraits and bring attention to the clothes rather than the subjects.

Have fun with it!

branding / headshots

Colors are what is most commonly asked for your office headshots!

We suggest going with solid tops or very simple patterns with a solid blazer or jacket and bottoms. You want to wear complementary colors and make sure your shoes have been cleaned for the photos!

Teams:

For teams, it is best to wear complementary colors that work best with each other. Solid colors that complement each other would work well such as muted blues with beiges or muted pinks. Muted soft colors should complement with other muted soft colors while bolder colors should also match with the other colors.

A jacket or blazer could also be added to the look to add layers and dimension to an outfit.
